European Timeshare Owners Organisation was established during the hey-day of the timeshare boom as a one stop shop for timeshare owners to exchange, sell or buy resale weeks.
Since those early beginings etoo have found that holiday ownership or point systems can vary as much as the marketing that sold them. We realised that only a company that could evolve with it’s changing market would ever be able to satisfy their customers. As a result, due to a growning international client base, etoo changed it’s head-office from London to Central Europe and we have now branched out to Asia with the Asian Timeshare Owners Organisation (atoo). ETOO Timeshare would like to rephrase part of the “Review of the Timeshare Directive” prepared by the European Commission (1996) to summarize their opinion regarding exchange of timeshare.
“The possibility of joining an exchange scheme is often used in the marketing of timeshare and /or points as a positive argument. The major problems seem to be related to “overselling” of the advantages and the possibilities, leaving consumers disappointed because the requested exchange is not available, the timeshare product they have is not of sufficient value to be exchanged for the “5 star luxury resort” shown in the marketing, or with unexpected high costs related to exchange, having to pay annual membership fees as well as fees related to search and use of exchange.”

Etoo resales have been talking about this subject on a couple of occasions. This time Etoo Timeshare would like to communicate to you some of our own findings, supported by other independent studies.
ETOO´s research indicates that nowadays it is commonly accepted that the state of the timeshare market does not paint a very optimistic picture. Sales figures of timeshare resorts are continuing to decline with some companies now reporting losses, owners are continuing to abandon the market because of declining standards and ever increasing annual costs, and fraud headlines continue to dominate consumer and media views in Europe. Other factors that undermine the timeshare image are the various alternative holiday products that offer better value for money and are geared more towards today’s holiday makers.
